The Leap Motion Controller is an optical tracking module that captures the movement of the user’s hands and fingers for natural interaction with augmented and virtual reality digital content. The controller is highly accurate with near-zero latency and has a 150° × 120° field of view. The range of the controller allows for most arms of up to 80-cm distance and integrates two 640 × 240 infrared cameras for detecting bones and joints. The framerate of the controller is 120 fps, which allows for high rate of hand tracking. Its weight of 32 g makes it applicable to VR and AR headsets such as the Oculus Rift. The controller has a recommended system requirement of Windows 7, Intel Core i5-4590, 8-GB RAM, and three USB 3.0 ports when used in VR applications. The controller operates in environments of 0°C to 45°C and an altitude of 0 meters to 3,048 meters.
