The 7805 range of 5V regulators are an industry workhorse but the L7805CD2T-TR takes the 7805 further. With an impressive temperature range of 0°C to 125°C, the precision regulator can supply up to 1.5A, have a typical drop-out voltage of 2V (at 1A), and an output voltage tolerance of 2%. With thermal overload protection and short circuit protection built in, the L7805CD2T-TR is a great choice of reliable linear 5V regulator. Worth noting is that while it is a fixed regulator, external components can be used to provide different output voltages and with additional circuitry the L78M05 can be used for a wide range of circuits including AM modulated power.
