Prototype LoRa Solutions with ST Microelectronics’ B-L072Z-LRWAN1 and I-NUCLEO-LRWAN1

ST Microelectronics introduce their newest LoRa development boards, B-L072Z-LRWAN1 and I-NUCLEO-LRWAN1, solutions built to help users develop functional, power-efficient LoRa technologies.

LoRa™ technology (also referred to as LoRaWAN or Long Range Wide Area Network) is helping designers and engineers connect applications and industries that were once beyond our reach, and it is a field rich with possibilities. In order to maximize LoRa’s potential, engineers need the right tools to help speed up prototyping and create effective and usable solutions. To answer this need, ST Microelectronics present their newest LoRa development boards, B-L072Z-LRWAN1 and I-NUCLEO-LRWAN1.

Get to Market Faster with B-L072Z-LRWAN1

The B-L072Z-LRWAN1 development board is appealing for a number of reasons, one of which is the fact that it accelerates prototyping. B-L072Z-LRWAN1 is the ultimate solution for corporations that need to start working on applications right away; designers can easily integrate the module into their original design without having to alter their original code very much. The board also has a 3xAAA battery holder to help users test out their applications without having to tether their prototypes.

By adding expansion cards via an Arduino Uno V3 connector, engineers have the ability to include additional features in their applications and make them more capable. To enhance efficiency, B-L072Z-LRWAN1 integrates ST’s STM32LO MCU, which utilizes a 32-bit core running at 32 MHz – this makes the board a viable solution for a range of applications and helps them save on power. The three voltage-scaling modes also enhances efficiency, and you can see a drop in power consumption to as low as 0.29 µA in standby.

Simplify Design with I-NUCLEO-LRWAN1

I-NUCLEO-LRWAN1 allows engineers to easily test out their ideas thanks to an SX1272 transceiver and the fact that the PCB sits on a Nucleo development board – Users can create a node connected to the internet by adding the X-NUCLEO-IDW01M1 Wi-Fi card, for example. The expansion board also includes a magnetometer, a humidity and temperature sensor and a pressure sensor to offer precision sensing capabilities without the need for an extra board.

While taking on a new sub-gigahertz network might seem daunting, ST has provided the I-CUBE-LRWAN software stack to help users get up to speed more quickly. The package includes the source code of three applications to connect a board to a node or to another LoRa object, as well as documentation on the Cortec Microcontroller Software Interface Standard and all the necessary drivers (including IKS01A2). As such, engineers have everything they need all in one place.

These new solutions from ST Microelectronics are unparalleled tools to have on hand when enabling solutions with LoRa technology and taking on the Internet of Things in general – find what you’re looking for at Arrow.com.
